Hulu’s content library is vast and has a lot of options for entertainment lovers. You’ll find a diverse mix of TV shows, movies, and documentaries across various genres—drama, comedy, action, sci-fi, horror, and more. It offers next-day access to movie episodes immediately after they air on major networks like ABC, NBC, and FOX. For even more content, you can opt for the Hulu Plus Live TV package for a swell mix of local channels, live sports, news, and unlimited DVR.

Hulu’s original content isn’t on the level of Netflix yet, but there’s lots to look forward to. Exclusive hits like “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and “Little Fires Everywhere,” have garnered critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base. Thanks to its association with Disney, there’s also plenty of kid-friendly content like “How to Train Your Dragon”, “The Croods”, “Madagascar”, and classic cartoons like “The Power Puff Girls” and “Rugrats.”

User Interface (UI)

Upon signup, you’re greeted by a clean, user-friendly layout with well-organized categories to help you quickly find what you want. You can use the Browse menu to find content by genre, actor, network, live, on-demand, Hulu Originals, and more. Sometimes, your search keywords may not provide exact matches, but with the auto-suggest feature, you should be able to locate what you want without much hassle. Movies and shows you plan to watch later can be saved to the My Stuff folder on the home screen. Hulu’s recommendation system is increasingly personalized, but still, some users may find the TV app menus confusing. There are also occasional issues with the app not resuming to show where you left off.

Personalization

Hulu allows up to six user profiles on a single account. Each profile can have its own watchlist, recommendations, and viewing history, so you don’t have to sift through someone else’s content to find what you want.

The platform has tightened its policies on password sharing across multiple households. While you can stream on two devices simultaneously with a standard Hulu plan, it’s only with people in the same home network. If you upgrade to the Hulu + Live TV plan, you can enjoy streaming on unlimited screens at home and up to three on the go. As you watch and rate content, Hulu learns your preferences and offers you more of what you enjoy.

Performance

Hulu delivers a solid streaming performance with minimal buffering issues. The service offers content in 720p, 1080p, and up to 4K Ultra HD resolutions for select titles. Most live TV streams are in 720p, but some broadcasts can reach 1080p, especially on devices like Apple TV, Fire TV, Chromecast, and modern gaming consoles​.

Hulu is accessible from most devices you’d expect like smart TVs, smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles, and more. Supported devices include:

Accessibility

Hulu’s accessibility features make it a user-friendly and inclusive platform for members of the household.

From the settings gear, you can enable subtitles, change audio settings, adjust video quality, and toggle Autoplay on or off. Subtitles can be customized for font size, color, and background to meet individual preferences. Subtitles and audio are available in multiple languages, including Spanish and French.

For visually impaired users, Hulu provides audio descriptions for many of its titles, narrating the on-screen action to help users follow along with the content. For parental control, you can set up individual profiles for children and restrict content by designating these profiles as kids’ profiles.
